In a recent Fifth Estate episode, the suicide of a young boy was featured. As an organization that provides services to children and youth with complex needs and their families, the suicide of this young boy is tragic. We believe that we all must make every possible effort at all times to prevent suicide and we know that suicide is the second leading cause of death in children and youth aged 10 to 19. This fact speaks to the challenge and the complexity of treating children and youth with mental health issues, making this tragedy a national issue.
